Daughter of murder victim pays tribute
Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post
The family of a man who was murdered almost eight years ago have spoken of their relief at finally being able to lay him to rest.
David Guilfoyle was murdered at his home in Accrington in May 2005. His body had never been found until murderer Shane Fitzpatrick revealed where he had buried his victim last year.
His body was recovered at Admiral’s Wood, near Bolton by Bowland, in November.
His family will hold his funeral in Burnley on Friday. A statement from his daughter Samantha Feeley, 22: ““I would like to thank Detective Superintendent Steve Brunskill, Detective Superintendent Paul Withers and the rest of the Lancashire Police for all of their dedicated work and support throughout. I would also like to thank the search team for their tireless efforts in assisting with the investigation.
“After a number of hard years, it is with some relief that I can finally lay my dad to rest knowing he will be at peace. For all of his family, friends, and acquaintances, I hope that anyone impacted by his loss can take comfort with the knowledge that the uncertainty is over and we can look forward to remembering a great man.”
