A cyclist has been seriously injured after being struck by a car.
The 55-year-old woman was cycling along Blackpool Road in Lea, Preston, when the accident involving a Volkswagen Up! happened.
The woman, who lives in Newton near Kirkham, was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
The driver of the car, a 73-year-old man from Lytham, was unhurt.
Part of the road was closed for three hours to allow accident investigators to carry out an examination of the scene.
Sgt Tracey Ward from Lancashire police’s road policing unit, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the collision to come forward and contact the police.
“The cyclist remains in hospital and is being treated for her injuries and we have officers supporting her family.”
The accident happened on Tuesday at 5.50pm.
Police are also appealing for information on another serious accident in Morecambe on Tuesday afternoon.
A 55-year-old motorcyclist from Bolton-le-Sands, near Carnforth. collided with a bollard on Marine Road East and was taken to Royal Lancaster Hospital with serious injuries.
