Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Wednesday, February 13, at 5.10pm on East Road close to Glebe Court.

The cyclist, a 59-year-old man from Morecambe, was riding home when somehow he came off his bike. He received severe injuries to his head and was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but died. He has been named as Mervyn Watson.

Sergeant Steve Wignall, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the police.

“We have specially trained officers supporting the man’s family during this difficult time and an investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Road Policing Unit on 101.
