Delighted: Park rangers and children with the flag at Fishwick Recreation Ground

A green flag was displayed at Fishwick Recreation Ground after 15 parks, open spaces and nature reserves in central Lancashire were given the prestigious Green Flag award.

The awards, handed out by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognise and reward the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

In Preston, Ashton Park, Avenham and Miller Park, Grange Park, Haslam Park and Fishwick Nature Reserve at Fishwick Bottoms were all recognised.

Cabinet member for community and environment at Preston Council Coun Robert Boswell said they were “absolutely delighted” to receive the awards.
