Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Latest news from the Lancashire Evening Post

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a police chase which ended in a crash.

Police were alerted to a suspected disqualified driver behind the wheel of a red Ford Fiesta at around 7.15am on Monday.

Officers tried to pull the vehicle over on Fylde Road, Preston, at just after 8.20am but were forced into a pursuit when the driver refused to stop.

The two vehicles eventually collided five minutes later around the Lane Ends area of Ashton.

A police officer suffered a minor injury in the incident.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and failing to stop and is currently being interviewed in custody.

The incident sparked queuing traffic in the area and there was still police activity at 10am.
