Teenage attacker
A teenager has been handed a 12-month community order after admitting assaulting two women. Sophie Hooper, 19, of Thompson Street, Ribbleton, Preston, pleaded guilty to attacking the women on November 24. Preston Magistrates’ Court said Hooper must attend appointments with a probation officer for a year. Magistrates also ordered her to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and £50 court costs. The money will be taken out of Hooper’s benefits.
Plant thief told to pay victim
A man who stole four plastic trays of plants has been given a 12-month conditional discharge. Lee Porter, 29, of Plungington Road, Plungington, Preston, admitted taking the plants from Eastway Nurseries on November 8. He was ordered to pay the victim £15 and £40 costs by Preston magistrates .
Caught with a kitchen knife
A woman caught with a kitchen knife in Preston city centre has been told to undergo nine months of alcohol dependency treatment. Hannah Tyrer, 18, of Sherburn Road, Penwortham, admitted the offence in Church Street on November 21. Preston magistrates told Tyrer to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and £85 costs.
Drunk teen hit with court fine
A teenager has been fined £70 for drunk and disorderly behaviour. Kane Holmes, 18, of Sandown Court, Preston, admitted the offence in Church Street, Preston, on November 10. Magistrates in Preston was ordered him to pay £20 to the victim and £75 court costs.
Cheese thief’s court order
A shoplifter who stole 15 blocks of cheese has been handed an 18-month community order. Lawrence Hammer, 38, of Pole Street, Preston, admitted taking £28 of cheese from Tesco on November 7. Preston magistrates told Hammer to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £25 court costs.
Bicycle stolen outside home
A black rally mountain bike was stolen from outside a house in Ribbleton. The bike had been left outside the front door of the house on Hodder Brook and was stolen on November 29. The black bike has mud guards and a metal bottle holder. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
Teenager used abusive words
A teenager who used threatening or abusive words or behaviour has been handed a 12-month conditional discharge. Kane Steiner, 19, of Avenham Terrace, Preston, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on September 27. Preston Magistrates’ Court ordered Steiner to pay £85 court costs.
Shoplifter’s home curfew
A man who stole wine from a Spar Store and was caught with cannabis has been handed a six-week home curfew. John Barry. 38, of Plungington Road, Preston, admitted stealing £5 of wine on October 28 and possessing the Class C drug on November 7. He must stay at home between 7pm and 7am daily, Preston magistrates have ruled.
Bound over to keep peace
A woman has been bound over in the sum of £100 for six months to keep the peace. Linda Lidderdale, 38, of Mead Avenue, Leyland, admitted behaving in a manner which breached the peace on November 23 at Preston Magistrates’ Court.
Man admitted stealing toys
A man who stole toys from the Toymaster store in Preston city centre must complete a 12 months supervision order, Preston Magistrates Court has ruled. Stuart Alan Scarborough, 33, of Sion Hill, Ribbleton, Preston, admitted theft and must pay the store compensation of £14.20.
Cannabis man fined at court
A man has been fined £70 after being found in possession of cannabis. Drew Joseph Smith, 21, of Bakers Mews, Tarleton, near Preston, must pay a £20 surcharge and £50 costs. Magistrates forfeited the drugs.
Fake £20 note accused’s trial
A man is set to appear for trial at Preston Crown Court on January 15 accused of offences relating to counterfeit £20 notes. Stephen Singleton, 33, of Lytham Road, Fulwood, Preston, is charged with five counts of passing counterfeit notes in February and one of having a thing he knew or believed to be counterfeit currency intending to pass or tender it.
Grocery thief must do work
A man who stole £293 groceries from an Asda store must do 60 hours of unpaid work. Matthew Alexander Robinson, 29, of Liverpool Road, Penwortham, near Preston, admitted the theft, which happened on September 30. Preston Magistrates’ Court made no order for costs or compensation.
DIY store thief gets curfew
A man who stole a Bosch drill from Homebase was given a four-month curfew. Mohammed Riaz Patel, 32, of St Paul’s Road, Preston, must pay £99 compensation and £85 costs and asked for another offence to be considered.
