Couple threatened with knife at home

A man threatened a couple with a knife when he broke into their house in Morecambe.

A man called at an address on Scafell Avenue and asked the owners if they wanted to buy a gold ring around 7.45pm on Monday, January 29.

When they refused, the man made his way into the house and threatened the couple with a knife, demanding £30 for the ring.

The woman gave the man £30, at which point he left the property, leaving the ring at the house.

Fortunately the man and woman weren’t injured, but were left shaken by what had happened.

The man was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.

Detective Inspector Gareth Willis said: “This was a terrifying incident for the couple involved and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about it to contact police.

“In particular, if any neighbours saw anybody suspicious hanging around or if this man knocked on their door then I would ask them to come forward.”

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
