Construction traffic could cause an accident
Residents on a busy Chorley road say construction traffic could cause an accident.
Homeowners trying to pull out on to the A6 Preston Road in Whittle-le-Woods say their vision is often obscured by the lines of stationary vehicles belonging to workers using the Wainhomes Orchards complex.
Local councillor Mark Perks says he's been contacted by residents living on the nearby Hardacre Lane, who want action.
He said: "This has been going on for a long time. I have contacted Chorley Council about it but the situation still exists.
"Cyclists are having to go further into the road rather than using their own lane. Cars pulling out on to the main road will not see them and it is only a matter of time before there is an accident."
Hardacre Lane resident Angus Davies, 41, said: "It is disappointing that the developers do not appear to have given a thought to existing residents and for road safety.
"They have line both sides of Hardacre Lane (with vehicles) which makes it difficult to see.
"It is dangerous as when I take my daughter to the bus stop in the morning, I have had to walk on the road instead of the pavement."
Coun Peter Malpas, Chorley Council's executive member for business said: "There is no enforcement action we can take. We have spoken to the site manager and have asked them to consider the residents in the area.
"We have been advised that the work will be completed shortly and the parking situation will improve."
Nobody from the developers Wainhomes was available to comment.
n Wainhomes is awaiting the decision of Chorley Council's development control committee about an application to build seven detached houses at 605 Preston Road, Clayton-le-Woods. At the same meeting later this month, they are also seeking permission to erect five additional units in Clayton-le-Woods at 26a Lancaster Lane.
