Decomposed cannabis plants have been found dumped in a Chorley village.
The discovery was made in picturesque Brindle.
The plants were quickly removed but the find has caused concern, with councillors raising it at a meeting of the local parish council.
Brindle and Hoghton ward councillor on Chorley Council, David Dickinson said: “Its a devil of a concern.
“I don’t know who round here would be growing that sort of stuff.
“I wouldn’t want any youngsters getting involved in drugs.”
He said it was also a worry if children picked up the plants, too.
“That’s always a possibility,” he said.
Vice-chairman Coun David Metcalfe, and Coun John Baldwin reported the find to Brindle Parish Council.
Coun Metcalfe said the plants had been dumped in Duxon Hill.
Coun Baldwin said similar plants, together with waste plastic, had been dumped in Birchin Lane in the village.
It is understood officers from Chorley Council were made aware of the find and the plants have now been removed.
Tony Harkness, parish council clerk, said: “They have been removed now.
“We have a very good neighbourhood officer for Brindle and Hoghton from Chorley, John Peet, who patrols the area.
“He removed them. Where they came from, I don’t know.”
Mr Harkness, who informed Mr Peet about the situation, said there was a blackspot in the village where drug users are known to frequent.
He added: “I dare say, Denham Quarry is quite well known by the police for drug activities.
“The police are out there most weekends.”
Lancashire Police said they had not been made aware of the incident.
