Church-goers touched by the work of a charity have decided to share the proceeds of its next fundraising event.
Members of Ashton Methodist Church were so impressed with the work of Gift92 that they decided to share the proceeds of their forthcoming Auction with the charity.
Barbara Griffths, fundraising coordinator at the church, said: “One of our groups had a speaker from Gift92 and we were so impressed by the number of people the charity supports, on little more than a shoestring, we just wanted to help.”
Gift92 provides recycled material aid to people in need and was established as a legacy of the 1992 Preston Guild.
Last year the charity assisted 844 people, around 45 per cent of whom were under 25-years-old.
Peter Metcalf, chairman of Gift92, said: “We are really grateful to the church for supporting us in this way.
“Raising the funds to keep going is really difficult especially in the current economic climate, where we are also seeing an increase in the numbers of people referred to us for assistance.”
The auction takes place at the church in Wellington Road on Saturday April 6 at 10am, with viewing from 9am.
