A child was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation following a fire in a Preston home.

Fire crews were called to Faringdon Crescent at 8.55am on Sunday, after a blaze broke out in a kitchen.

Watch manager Tom Cookson said two fire engines attended, and six fire fighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze.

He said: “There was extensive smoke damage all through the property, and a lot of fire and heat damage in the kitchen.”

The three occupants were outside when fire crews arrived, and a two-year-old child was taken to hospital.
