Ribble Valley's new Mayor for 2014/15 is Coun. Michael Ranson

The chairman of the Ribble Valley Conservative Association, Coun Michael Ranson, has resigned in order to devote himself to the role of Mayor of the Ribble Valley.

Ribble Valley Council leader Coun Stuart Hirst said: “I am greatly saddened by this news and should like to pay tribute to Michael for all his dedicated hard work on behalf of the association over many years which has overseen one of the most successful electoral periods for the Conservative group on Ribble Valley council since its formation in 1974.”

Ribble Valley Conservative Association chairman Coun Ken Hind added: “He has been agent for the association at a number of significant elections for borough council, county council and Parliamentary elections and he has given unstintingly of his time in the interests of the Conservatives in the Ribble Valley.”

The Ribble Valley Conservative Association’s constitution requires the executive council to select a new chairman and the officers will meet.
