An investigation has been launched after an unoccupied car rolled onto a level crossing.
The car was clipped by a train at the level crossing in Hoghton, near Preston, at around 6.25pm on Sunday night.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “The driver of the car had parked it on the road away from the crossing and somehow it has rolled down on to the crossing.
“We are now investigating how it has ended up on the crossing. The car wasn’t occupied.
“There were 51 passengers and staff on the train. There were no injuries.”
The BTP will now look into CCTV and are appealing for witnesses with information to get in touch.
