Canine crime fighters go online

Lancashire police’s canine crime fighters have got their own webpage to allow people to follow their work.

The force’s dog unit has launched a Facebook page, with pictures of the dogs and updates on some of their latest work.

Sgt Neil Fitzgerald from the dog unit said: “We find that residents are always really interested to see our police dogs.

“Facebook provides us with an opportunity to inform these residents about the work the dogs are doing to keep them safe.

“Our dogs get involved in a wide range of policing operations from drug searches to big events.

“Last year some of the dogs went to the Olympics and were involved in the policing operation for the Open golf and of course the royal visit.

“To keep informed about what the police dogs are doing in your area, like our Facebook page.”

Log on to Facebook and search for ‘Lancashire Police Dog Unit’ to see the page.
