Callous thief steals woman’s handbag

Crime news

Crime news

A woman was left with a broken shoulder after a thief stole her handbag.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the attack that happened between 5.30pm and 5.45pm on January 16 as the woman walked from Manor House Lane along the pathway to the Sainsbury’s supermarket, Preston.

The 52-year-old was attacked from behind by a man described as being between 18-25 years old, dressed in black with his face covered.

As he stole the handbag, which contained two re-usable shopping bags, the attacker pushed the woman to the ground, injuring her right shoulder which was later revealed to have been broken when the victim was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

Before the attack the woman recalled seeing her attacker walking through the grounds of St Gregory’s church.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
