A county councillor has called on a student union official who made a sick joke about missing youngster April Jones to resign.
Coun Mark Perks said he was “flabbergasted” when he read about Joey Guy, the education representative for the Student Union at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), posting a ‘joke’ on his Twitter account about the five-year-old.
He today said that Mr Guy should resign. He said: “It really is disgraceful. He is in a position where he should know better.”
Mr Guy removed the ‘tweet’ within minutes of making the posting on Thursday and issued an immediate apology, but the tweet had already been ‘retweeted’ by others..
As reported by the Evening Post The Student Union has launched an investigation, saying the matter was going through its internal disciplinary procedures.
