Call for recruitment answers

Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans

Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans

Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has written to the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner over the constabulary’s recent recruitment hotline for 100 posts.

Only 500 application packs were available on a first-come-first-serviced basis, and all were given out in four and a half hours.

Mr Evans said he spoke to a PCSO who had called the hotline 2,000 times without success, but his friend called 50 times and got a pack.

Mr Evans said: “Far from even being a first come first served system, this example serves to highlight that the application process was a completely random one, where success was borne out of complete luck.”
