A single-decker bus has been destroyed by fire on the M6 motorway.

Firefighters from Lancaster were called to the hard shoulder of the southbound slip road at junction 33, near Forton Services, just before 10.30am on Thursday.

When crews arrived, the fire was well-developed and officers wearing breathing apparatus injected foam to extinguish the flames.

It is not known whether the bus was carrying passengers, but there are no reports of injuries.
