BREAKING NEWS: Owner of “disgusting” house dies, son arrested

Waiting for Video...

The owner of a “disgusting” house subject to two deep cleans in 12 months has died, and her son has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Police officers arrived at the small semi in Parkside, Lea, early on Thursday morning, followed shortly after by Crime Scene Investigators.

Officers conducted door-to-door enquiries with neighbours in the cul-de-sac, asking when the last time was they had seen the 80-year-old woman, and what her condition was.

She had been taken to hospital on Tuesday morning after Environmental Health officers began clearing the property, with jobs including the removal of a bath full of excrement and hundreds of dirty teddy bears.

Police later confirmed that a 54-year-old man from the Preston area had been arrested on two matters - suspicion of carer ill treatment/willfilly neglecting a person without capacity (under the Mental Health Act 2005), and also on suspicion of manslaughter, related to the neglect.
