A man has been charged after two incidents involving elderly women in Preston having their pensions stolen.

Detectives launched a probe after an 80-year-old was allegedly pulled to the ground after drawing her pension from the post office on New Hall Lane.

Police linked it to a second incident involving an elderly woman.

Raymond Hayes, 36, of no fixed abode, is accused of robbery and theft from the person. He was remanded in custody by Preston magistrates.
