A betting shop has been held up by a man with a knife.

The robbery happened at around 8.10am on Saturday, July 19 when a female member of staff at Ladbroke’s in Leyland Lane, Leyland, was approached by a man with a kitchen knife and pushed inside the shop.

She was then ordered to lock herself inside a toilet inside the shop while the man stole £2,000 from the safe.

The woman, 27, suffered a cut to the hand.

Det Insp Warren Atkinson, the officer leading the investigation, said: “The woman was very shaken up by the experience and was taken to hospital to be checked out.”

A 53-year-old man from Leyland was arrested a short time later on suspicion of robbery and is currently in custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information or CCTV of the area to contact them on 101 quoting log number 0464 of July 19.
