Four men have been arrested for drugs offences following a police operation in Preston.

Armed and un-armed officers were involved in the operation which took place yesterday afternoon.

Two men, aged 21 and 22, were arrested when a van was stopped in Lytham Road just after 2.30pm.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a police operations support van close to the Plungington Hotel and ambulances in the area.

Two other men, aged 25 and 26, were subsequently arrested outside a house on Garsdale Road a short time later.

It is believed that armed police surrounded the house for some time, and the police helicopter was sent up in the area.

Officers said the arrests are part of Lancashire Constabulary’s on-going determination to tackle drug and gang related activity in the city.

All four men were held in police custody last night.

No details have been released on whether drugs were seized.
