Appeal launched following late night robbery of store
CCTV of robbery at Co-Op, Ribbleton Avenue
This is the moment a masked raider stole thousands of pounds of cash and cigarettes from a Preston convenience store.
The CCTV stills have been released by police following the robbery at the Co-Op shop in Ribbleton Avenue, Preston as part of their appeal for information about the incident.
The robbery happened on Sunday December 9 at 9.55pm when a man, whose face was covered, burst into the store.
He entered the store just minutes before it was due to close for the night.
The man then jumped behind the till and grabbed a 25-year-old female member of staff by the throat.
He told her and a 37-year-old male member of staff to “give me everything” before pushing the woman towards the back of the shop.
The man then ordered the male staff member to lock up the shop and turn off the lights before demanding that the till be opened.
He then grabbed “several thousand” pounds from the safe before picking up more money from the till and stealing a large quantity of cigarettes.
The raider then walked to the front of the store and unlocked it before walking out.
It is believed a second person was waiting outside.
The staff members suspected that the man had a weapon because he had his hand in his pocket.
The man is described as white, aged 25-30, around 6ft tall and with a medium build.
He had brown eyes and a scruffy appearance. He was wearing a grey coloured ski-type mask.
