Appeal after M6 crash

AN appeal for information has been launched following a serious crash on the M6.

At 12.55pm on Friday, a Renault Clio was travelling along the M6 southbound when it lost control and collided with the central reservation at junction 27, Standish, before coming back onto the carriageway and colliding with a Peugeot 206.

The driver of the Clio, who is from Warrington, has been taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with chest injuries and is in a critical condition. The driver of the Peugeot was uninjured.

The carriageway was closed for seven hours to allow collision investigators to carry out their work.

Sergeant Malcolm Bell said: “An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision is now underway and I would appeal to anybody who witnessed it to contact police.

“I am also keen to speak with anybody who witnessed the Clio being driven prior to being involved in the collision.”
