Police are appealing for information after a glass jug was stolen from an antiques centre in Lancaster.

The theft took place around 10.45am on Saturday, January 5, at GB Antiques, on Lancaster Leisure Park, in Wyresdale Road.

Staff told officers that a man entered the large antiques centre and selected a small blue glass jug from a display near to the entrance.

He is then said to have hid the jug on his person and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the item.

He was seen to leave the site in a small dark car.

The jug is described as a small blue glass jug with a hand painted cherub on the front.

It is valued at around £50.

Police said the offender is described as being white, aged in his late 50s to early 60s, with grey hair and a protruding belly.

He was wearing a dark jacket with a burgundy top underneath and light coloured trousers.

Another distinguishing feature was that the man walked with the help of a stick.

Anyone with any information about this offence is being urged to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting crime reference number BA1300099.

Alternatively, contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on their 0800 555 111 hotline.

No personal details will be taken and no calls will be recorded.
