This is the man police believe tricked his way into an elderly woman’s home and stole her purse.
Police today released CCTV images of the man they want to trace in connection with the “appalling” offence in Fulwood.
At around 12pm on New Year’s Day, a man called at the address of a 76-year-old woman on Linton Street claiming to be from Avon.
When the woman answered the door the man walked past her and straight into the lounge.
He then asked to use the upstairs bathroom before returning to the lounge and leaving the property.
But while upstairs he searched through drawers and cupboards and left the house having stolen a purse containing a quantity of money.
The man is described as white, aged in his 40s, around 6 foot tall, with a dark brown afro hairstyle. He was wearing a brown jacket.
Det Cons Warren Gibson, of Preston CID, said: “To target a 76 year old woman in her own home in this manner is appalling. We absolutely need to find the person responsible.
“I am keen to speak to the man in the CCTV images. If anybody recognises him I would urge them to contact police.”
Anybody with any information can call police on 101.
