Appeal after 6 year old girl is knocked down in Preesall

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 6 year old girl from Pilling was knocked over as she crossed the road in Preesall on Thursday the 31st January 2013 at approximately 16:00 hours.

The collision occurred on Sandy Lane close to the junction with Fordstone Avenue at Preesall. The girl had just stepped off a bus and walked to the rear of the bus before stepping out into the road where she has been involved in a collision with an oncoming Hyundai Amica car.

The girl was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with head and chest injuries but has since been transferred to Alder Hey’s Children’s Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Sandy Lane was closed for a number hours to allow for an investigation to take place.

PC 3582 Keiron Williams from the Force Road Policing Unit of Lancashire Constabulary would like to speak to any passengers on the bus or anybody twho witnessed the collision, in particular the driver of a small saloon car that was behind the bus at the time of the collision. This vehicle was stationary either waiting behind the bus or waiting to turn right into Fordstone Avenue.
