He said: “They’re flying out. Every year it gets bigger. On Saturday, I was out distributing leaflets and 50 per cent of people knew what it was all about, had been before and are planning to go again.

“We set out to achieve three things - to give people fantastic memories of live entertainment, to make a case for local businesses to have creative arts part of their business model, and to bring creative people together and create a local scene.

“On all three counts we’ve succeeded. People who attend have broad smiles, all the businesses want to take part year after year and we have a creative community now that people are really proud of.”

He added: “I always said to myself that I’d judge the success after 10 years and see what we’d really achieved. But I can see it already - we have a lot of young acts who are getting up and performing with confidence.”
