Trevor Hemmings has taken his stake in Preston North End to 68%

Leisure tycoon Trevor Hemmings’ takeover bid for Preston North End has seen him increase his stake in the club to 68.05%.

Deepdale PNE Holdings (DPNE), the 75-year-old’s investment vehicle, announced on Tuesday that its 5p-per-share offer has been accepted by London-based businessman and North End fan, Paul Wilkinson, for his 12% stake in the club.

It takes him to less than 7% short of being able to de-list the club from the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) stock exchange.

A flurry of announcements on Tuesday also revealed that deputy chairman David Taylor had sold his 1,000 shares in the club for just £50 and director and chartered surveyor David Robinson, who joined the club’s board in January, has sold his 3,100 shares for £155.

North End’s 3,500 shareholders, many of whom are supporters who bought a small stake in the club at the time of its flotation in 1994, received a letter from club chairman Derek Shaw last week urging them to accept the 5p per share offer.

It is now expected that a formal offer document will be posted to shareholders by DPNE in the coming days and under stock market rules they must then be given at least 21 days to respond to the offer.

The only major shareholder yet to accept the offer or go public with their intentions is Hussein Patel, the son of Preston-based textiles multi-millionaire, Arif, who holds a 6.53% stake in North End.

this is one of the richest people in the country, who was given public money to repair various properties he owned in blackpool. what do you think the real reason is for him being interested in deepdale?

Stop these nonesence arguments .. State your foorball opinion .or just oppinion and stop harrasing each orher .Remember everyone has a different oppinion .so its no point slamming personal abuse at each other . if you have a difference and want to do something to someone else . offer to wear boxing gloves and be counted . So if your not prepared to back it up shut up

Looking at that photo of Hemmings, I'm convinced that he is grabbing these shares at such a low cost, but a high cost to the seller to compliment his indulgence in whiskey drinking. His face colouring , ruddy cheeks and a blue nose all point to an over indulgence of whiskey drinking. Well at least he will be happy and warm inside sat there this coming winter having bought all your shares at 3 pounds 95 pence less than you paid for them. Anybody know his religious tendency ? Jewish perhaps ? Just a thought.

Fishwick you weren't funny when you were Ex-Callon why don't you go and find a Man Utd forum to post on and leave PNE fans in peace?

Fishwick, you're the village idiot, contradicting your self saying "stick to the thread" yet you are talking about something unrelating to the thread yet and insulting other people and criticising their lifestyle when you don't even know them, yet you seem to like the fact you are apparently in California. Grow up!

Majestic; The weather on Fishwick Parade will be very similar to the weather in other parts of Preston. A Google search should get you the weather in California but of what concern is that to you, or to Preston North End for that matter ? Try sticking to the thread line. Majestic ! Is that French for Idiot ?.
