Learn the art of cooking healthy food

Students can become kitchen whiz kids with the help of a new video courtesy of lep.co.uk.

The five-minute film shows students where to buy ingredients and how to cook a honey and lime pork stir fry meal for four people.

The student guide to cooking is the first in a series of videos produced by LEP TV and the University of Central Lancashire Student's Union.

The film was co-presented by third-year journalism student Craig Laycock who said: "Cooking is not just for Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay. I've proven that with my confident display in the kitchen.

"If the video inspires just one student to cook a decent meal for their family or friends, then it has all been worthwhile."

LEP community reporter Josie Hill, herself a UCLan graduate, was behind the camera in the film.

She said: "We want to the make fun videos which help students settle into their new life.

"Cooking healthy food is an important skill that everybody needs to learn. It is better to learn sooner rather than later."

Michael Clarke runs a butchers store in Preston's Indoor Market which was used in the video.

He said: "At the market you can buy as much or as little as you like.

"It's all local, it's all fresh and most importantly for students, it's all reasonably priced."
