The history of Indian soldiers during the First and Second World Wars will be explored today at the Museum of Lancashire in Stanley Street.

From 10.30am to 3.30pm, former university lecturer Jahan Mahmood will be attending the museum with his own collection of military clothing and objects, giving visitors the opportunity to discuss the rare objects and their significance.

From 6pm, Jahan will present a short film and lecture highlighting the contribution of Indian soldiers in both wars.

Both events are free to attend and have been developed by Preston Museums Group as part of a project funded by Arts Council England to engage local communities with collections.
