Councillors in Preston are being urged to back the idea of a combined authority to help Lancashire benefit from the Northern Powerhouse.
Leader Coun Peter Rankin will make a rallying call to the ruling Labour group before the full city council meets on Thursday to discuss the formation of a countywide body.
“This is a hugely important step for Lancashire and for Preston,” he said. “A new approach is needed so that councils in Lancashire become more joined up and work together.
“It is our duty to respond to the needs of our residents and do all we can to improve the local economy and the quality of life for local people.
“A combined authority has the potential to do this and more, empowering Lancashire to up its game.”
