The picture is still unclear as to who will take control across Lancashire, but the Tories look set to become the largest party in the Commons, according to the General Election exit poll.

The survey, taken at polling stations across the country, suggests the Tories will get 316 MPs to Labour’s 239 when all the results have been counted.

In Houghton and Sunderland South, the result of a Labour hold was declared before 11pm.
