The funeral cortege for Preston’s longest-serving landlord passed by the site of his former pub.
Brian Atkinson, who ran the County Arms Hotel on Deepdale Road for 29 years, passed away peacefully at Penwortham Priory Care Home on August 7, aged 81.
Following a service at St Walburge’s Church on Friday, the horse and carriage carrying Brian’s coffin passed by the former County Hotel site where a banner had been erected by his family, as well as floral tributes.
The cortege also passed by Barney’s Piano bar, on Church Street in the city, where he was landlord for 12 years, for people to pay their respects.
His son, Paul, said: “Dad was a true Preston legend in his own right and everyone knew him and his Great Danes, Bruce and Ellsa, at the County Hotel.
