Two lanes of the M6 were closed on Sunday after a milk tanker caught fire.

Highways England said two lanes were closed southbound between J32 and J31a after the fire started at about 11am, to allow fire crews to put out the blaze.

Police and firefighters were at the scene, and said there were no injuries and no environmental risk as crews arrived before the fire spread.

The driver had managed to escape before calling 999.

The tanker was recovered and all lanes were reopened at about 1.30pm.
