New yoga in chairs classes

YOGA classes with a difference will be held at Chorley Library next month.

The yoga in chairs classes will start at 11.30am on Fridays, from January 9.

They are suitable for people of all abilities and will improve flexibility, strength and balance.

Hearing help

A DROP-IN session for people with hearing loss will be held from 10am to noon on Monday, December 9 at Chorley Medical Centre.

They are held on the second Monday of each month.

Carol concert

A CAROL concert will be held around Euxton’s Christmas tree at 7pm on Wednesday.

Music will be provided by Chorley Silver Band.

Parish council

HEATH Charnock Parish Council will meet at 7.30pm on Thursday, January 8 at Adlington and District Community Centre.

Man damaged cars

A MAN who used threatening behaviour towards two men and damaged two cars has been ordered to compensate his victims.

Jordan Andrew Wood, 26, of Goldbourne Street, Deepdale, Preston, pleaded guilty to four offences in a hearing before Preston Magistrates’ Court.

The bench ordered him to pay £300 compensation to the car owners, with a £60 surcharge and £85 costs, and he was given a restraining order.

PRESTON: A man who admits causing £133 damage to a woman’s door has been given a restraining order.

Matthew Botham, 18, of Brackenbury Road, Plungington, Preston, was given nine months supervision and ordered to pay £133 compensation by Preston magistrates.

He also admitted possessing cannabis.

PRESTON: A man who damaged a shop window and caused £500 damage to a taxi has been fined.

Paul Crewe, 25, of Goldbourne Street, Deepdale, pleaded guilty at Preston Magistrates’ Court, which ordered him to pay a £100 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs. He also admits possessing cannabis.

Tomasz Deszynski, 30, Jeffrey Street, Preston, must participate in a safer relationships programme and pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

PRESTON: A man who sent grossly offensive text messages to a woman has been ordered to do 40 hours unpaid work by a court.

Warren Charles, of Westbrook Crescent, Ingol, pleaded guilty to the offence at Preston Magistrates’ Court.

The bench also ordered the 43-year-old to pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

LANCASTER: A woman who was twice caught stealing perfume has been jailed for a total of 10 weeks.

Tina Ghorst, 42, of Ashbourne Drive, Lancaster, pleaded guilty before Preston Magistrates’ Court.

The bench said the offences were aggravated by the defendant’s record.

PRESTON: A man who assaulted a woman must do 80 hours unpaid work and pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs, magistrates ruled.

Bartolomiej Berndt, 25, of Ribbleton Lane, admitted assault to Preston magistrates.

Gareth Wynn Jones, 29, of St Margaret’s Close, Ingol, Preston, was found guilty of driving without insurance and must pay a £600 fine, £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

Steven Keeley, 42, of Welbeck Crescent, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, pleaded guilty to speeding near playing field while driving a large vehicle and must pay a £55 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Andrew Charles Mee, 24, of Fishergate Hill, Preston, admits stealing four bottles of Jack Daniels worth £108 from Booths and must pay a £70 fine and £20 surcharge.

Matthew Crook, 23, of Carhouse Lane, Bretherton, Chorley, was banned for 36 months after admitting drink driving and must pay a £110 fine, £20 surcharge and £85 costs.

Shaun Anthony Joseph Green, 40, of St Davids Road, Deepdale, Preston, was given a restraining order after admitting assaulting a woman and must attend a probation programme and pay a £60 surcharge and £85 costs.

Cameron Dance, 20, of Waverley Road, Preston, admits possessing cannabis, and was discharged conditionally for 12 months, but must pay a £15 surcharge and £85 costs.

Jaswinder Singh, 32, of St George’s Road, Deepdale, Preston, admits possessing cannabis, and must pay a £75 fine, £20 surcharge and £40 costs.

Robert Moore, 29, of Meadow Street, Preston, was found guilty of driving without insurance or a licence and must pay a £600 fine, £60 surcharge and £85 costs.
