A 54 year old man has made his first court appearance charged with multiple sex offences including child rape.

A legal bid to keep his name and address a secret failed when Andrew Nicholas Wright stood in the dock at Blackpool Magistrates Court.

Wright, of Mowbreck Court, Wesham, is charged with 20 offences. They are five allegations of sexual touching of boys six of indecently assaulting boys and six charges of inciting sexual activity with boys.

He is further charged with one offence of inciting sexual activity with a child and two allegations of raping a child.

The offences are said to have taken place between 1997 to 2013 in the Blackpool and Fylde area.

Wright offered no plea to the charges.

The judge said the cases must be heard at Preston Crown Court and Wright was bailed until he appears there.
