Workers at BAE Systems in Samlesbury, near Preston, have launched a knit and natter group and are knitting baby clothes for the Baby Beat shop at the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit at Royal Preston Hospital.

The items are being sold and the profit will go directly to the charity which provides funding for the unit to ensure that it is kept at the very forefront of new and innovative equipment designed to monitor the unborn baby and mother from conception to birth and ensure a safe delivery.

Baby Beat manager Karen Entwistle said: “We are extremely grateful to the ladies who have supported Baby Beat over the past three years do a marvellous job knitting beautiful baby items which provide profit in our shop which in turn ensures that the unit is kept at the cutting edge of technology.”
