Shoppers in Preston have helped to raise a staggering amount for a local charity.

Galloway’s Society for the Blind is celebrating after receiving a donation of over £12,000 from the St George’s Shopping Centre, who teamed up with the charity to deliver free of charge services over the busy Christmas period for shoppers.

The centre’s Santa’s Grotto and gift wrapping services were manned by volunteers from Galloway’s and small donations to the charity were encouraged.

Stuart Clayton, Chief Executive of Galloway’s Society for the Blind said: “ It was an exceptionally busy period running the Grotto and Gift Wrapping and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of all the shoppers in the centre.”

General Manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer, added: “We are delighted that our Christmas services could give something back to charity and help raise awareness of the fantastic work that Galloway’s does, year in, year out.”
