Judge's home is targeted in protest at court system

A campaigner from Preston took part in a protest outside a top judge's house calling for changes to the family court system.

Les Culshaw was dressed as the Honey Monster as he joined other activists from Stop The War On Dads and New Fathers 4 Justice.

The five-strong group staged a Mothering Sunday protest outside the Wiltshire home of Sir James Munby, president of the family division of the High Court.

The group took ladders with the intention of climbing onto the roof, but the house had a thatched roof so they decided against it.

Instead, they held a barbecue, waved banners and spoke using a megaphone outside the house.

The group, which has no links to Fathers 4 Justice UK, claim armed police were called to the property shortly after they arrived.

Les, 50, from Tarleton, said: “The armed police came within minutes of us being there so I presume he must have been scared or over-protective of his family. We didn’t approach him in any negative way.”

The protestors spent five and a half hours outside the house.

They plan to try to speak to Sir James again, along with other prominent figures.

Mr Culshaw said: “We intend to try to get to speak to him again. If not, we will continue pursuing him until he has the time of day for us.”

Les and other members of Stop The War On Dads held a protest outside John Whittle Robinson solicitors in Preston last month in a campaign over rights for fathers in divorce and separation proceedings and the reform of the family courts.

Sir James did not want to comment on the protest.
