A kind-hearted school girl has had her long hair chopped off in a bid to help other children.

Eight-year-old Jena Darley, from Barton, Preston, had her long blonde hair cut into a bob, and will donate the hair she had cut off to a charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair to cancer or alopecia.

The Barton St Lawrence School pupil wanted to do something to help others.

Her hair will go to the Little Princesses charity.

Mum Jane said: “Jena wanted to do it as she wanted to help.

“I had heard of it through hair salons, so I’d mentioned it to her as her hair was so long.

“She said she just wanted to make someone happy, which made me smile.”
