Preston’s ice rink has once again proved a huge success over the festive period with thousands of visitors taking to the ice.

The family attraction has proved such a hit, city centre councillors are calling for it to return next year.

Coun Drew Gale, who represents the town centre ward, said; “I’d like to see it become a permanent fixture.

“It has been incredibly successful. A good time has been had by all.

“It is always a really popular – especially with the youngsters. I’ve had a go myself but it was more like Bambi on ice – I must be the world’s worst ice skater!”

The rink runs until Sunday at the Flag Market.
