Permission has been granted to demolish a former Lancashire County Council office and replace it with a new housing estate.
Planning bosses at South Ribble Council gave the nod to the New Progress Housing Group scheme for 34 affordable houses at the former social services offices in Brindle Road, Bamber Bridge.
There will be four two-bed flats, 12 one-bed flats, 16 two-bed houses and two three-bed houses.
The approval comes despite 10 objection letters from neighbours, who complained to the council that the development would cause disruption, extra traffic and would result in a loss of privacy. Some also expressed concern that the original building was being demolished.
New Progress said the house types “have been conceived to meet local need in its present form and also provide aspirational new houses that will contribute towards future economic growth.”
