A Lancaster woman who was diagnosed with leukaemia has shown her gratitude for the care she received by donating a substantial amount of money.

Linda Grimes, 42, from Scale Hall, Lancaster donated almost £10,000 to the haematology and oncology unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital after she raised the money with skydive and fundraising events.

Linda, who was diagnosed in January 2012, said: “It was hard but I had great support from my family and the staff on the unit who were absolutely amazing.

“Nothing was too much trouble for them and they did all they could to make my stay as comfortable as possible.

“I have no doubt that without the skills of the consultants and the support of the staff I would not be here today.”

Kathy Ancell, Head of Fundraising at the trust, said: “They have raised a fantastic amount of money and should be very proud of their achievement.”
