Horrible histories wanted for Blackpool Tower Dungeon

Entertainment News

Entertainment News

Lancashire’s murky secrets are being sought for a new attraction in Blackpool Tower’s Dungeon.

The world famous attraction is searching for startlingly silly stories in a bid to create the next character to wallow within the walls of the Dungeon.

The Blackpool Tower Dungeon already includes 10 actor-led performances, where the visitor and the story are the stars of the show.

Local residents are now needed to create a new character, and are being urged to submit short history stories which are relevant to the area and have a prominent character that can be recreated in the dungeon.

Local historian Simon Entwistle will be judging the entries and the winner will have their character brought to life by a dungeon actor.

Whether it’s Dr Buck Ruxton, the jealous husband who murdered his wife, or George Smith, the butchering baker who turned in to a serial killer and bigamist, dungeon officials are calling for locals to step in with their eerie ideas.

Garry Blackadder, general manager at The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, said: “I’m sure there are many more terrifying tales hiding in Lancashire’s murky past so I’m looking forward to seeing what characters people uncover.

“Fear is a funny thing and most spooky characters tend to have a funny side so we’re looking for a character that shocks us but makes us chuckle at the same time.”
