Hoole WI - March 2009

Thursday 5 March was the birthday meeting of Hoole WI.

We had a Jacob's Join, which saw the tables almost groaning under the weight of delicious food brought in by the members.

Our speaker, Katie Bradley unfortunately had a sore throat, so instead of a full evening of songs, she could only manage a couple, which showed off her excellent voice.

She also gave a brief history of music through the ages, and read some extracts from books for us.

The competition 'The strangest place name in Britain' was won by Connie Finnigan with 'Crackpot', and the birthday flowers went to Ann Barrett.

The 12 table decorations, made by Janet Wilkinson, were also raffled at the end of the evening.

It was generally agreed that the whole evening had been very successful.

The next meeting will be on Thursday April 2 at Hoole Village Hall at 7:30pm, when the talk will be about 'Bees and beekeeping', and we always welcome visitors.
