Hundreds of homes in Lancashire were left without power after severe gales on Monday evening.

Electricity North West restored power to almost 4,000 customers in the North West, after gales damaged the power network across the region.

In Longridge, 178 customers lost power at 9.14pm, and it was restored at 3am.

In Burscough, 207 customers lost power at 7.30pm, and it was restored just after 9.30pm.

Following the yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office on Monday, extra engineers were on standby to help restore power and repair weather-related damage to overhead power lines.

The region is expected to continue to see sporadic severe weather, and a yellow warning is in place until 6pm on Tuesday.
