The oldest annual event to take place in Preston, the Whitsuntide Fun Fair opens on Saturday.
The fair, which runs until Tuesday, dates back to the early years of the 19th century, when it was held on the land previously known as the Orchard, which is where the covered market now stands.
Market Manager Dave Bullock said: “It is great to once again hold this historic event in Preston city centre. There will be a selection of rides from the waltzer to the bomber. There will also be food stalls and music being played so there will be a great atmosphere. It really gives people another reason to come into the city centre.”
The fair runs from 10am to 8pm on all days and will be on the Flag Market, Harris Street, Birley Street, Earl Street and the covered outdoor market.
