Wyre Council has secured funding from Sport England to establish a new community handball club in Garstang which will be the first of its kind in Lancashire.
Working in partnership with Myerscough College and England Handball, the club offers young people aged 14 years and above the chance to learn the sport and play in a team via weekly sessions at Myerscough Sports Centre.
Handball is the second biggest team sport in Europe and has enjoyed an increase in popularity in England since the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Club sessions will take place at Myerscough Sports Centre, St Michael’s Road, Bilsborrow on Wednesday evenings from 6pm – 7pm, starting on January 8.
The first four sessions will be free of charge for all, and thereafter students and under 16s will pay £1 and over 16s will pay £3.
