VOLUNTEERS are needed to help build a new visitor centre at Cuerden Valley Park.

Work is underway to construct the centre using environmentally-friendly materials such as shingle roof tiles and straw-bale walls.

The next stage is the roof, which will be built slightly higher than needed and lowered into position when the walls have been built.

Park manager Jim Longbottom said: “The centre is really starting to take shape and become a reality but more volunteers are needed to help with the next stage.

“Volunteers are welcome any day of the week and on-the-job training will be given. The visitor centre and cafe is scheduled to open around Easter 2016.

“If you can help with the project on a regular basis or just on a one-off occasion, it would be great to have your help.”
